Rand traded yesterday between 17.63 and 17.81 and broke via the 17.80 level briefly on a stronger USD.
Locally we have our CPI numbers for August out today . Forecast is 7.5% , down from 7.8% previously.
Sweden raised rates by 1% yesterday, and warned of more rate hikes to come.
Main focus tonight is the US FOMC meeting. Markets have priced in a 81% chance of a 75bps rate increase, with a 19% chance of a 100bps increase. FED has raised rates by 75bps in both the prior meetings.
The post meeting comments will be watched, with no rate cuts expected until 2024.
GBP remains close to 37 year lows at 1.1375 , with markets undecided if the BOE will hike by 50 or 75 bps tomorrow.
